This is my favourite blog post to date!
Last week we read a story called: A Poppy Is to Remember. This book taught us about what Remembrance Day is about and we learned about the poet who wrote the famous poem "In Flanders' Fields."
This week the Kinders created beautiful postcards to send to a Canadian Armed Forces Member currently serving overseas. Our postcards will be mailed to Baghdad, Iraq. The postcards are currently in the mail! As you can see, I deleted your child's name for privacy, but take a look at the postcards. They are so heartwarming to read. I'm sure the soldiers will absolutely love receiving these from our Kinder class.
Next, we brainstormed some symbols or pictures that represent Remembrance Day. The students thought of great symbols, such as:
poppies
soldiers
poems
cross
sunflowers (for happiness)
hearts
