Today we learned all about letter "a." We learned that "a" says /ah/ and we sang the song that goes along with "a."
Then, the Kinders showed me how hard they can work by practicing making the letter "a" in their Jolly Phonics duotangs.

Today we also learned about Belly Breaths. I introduced my Sparkle Jar. My jar represents our brain or head, while the sparkles in the jar represent our thoughts.
We talked about how when we feel: angry, annoyed, scared, frustrated, grouchy, sad, tired, and other emotions other than happy, it's hard to focus and learn. When we feel like this, our sparkle jar is like it's being shaken up.
To calm down our mind we take belly breaths. When we take 5 belly breaths, it helps our mind to stay calm.
This is the belly breath that we learned today:
This is how we can keep track of our belly breaths. Each time we take a belly breath, we stick a "breathe" sign on our chart.
This is what our sparkle jar looks like when it's all shaken up. This is what our mind looks like when we are: angry, annoyed, scared, frustrated, grouchy, sad, tired, and other emotions other than happy.
