These were the four centres we had today:
At this centre, students wrote down dinosaur words and/or pictures in their journals.
At this centre, students read dinosaur books with their friends.
At this centre, students worked in the hallway to find a dinosaur toy, identify the name, and then try to write the first and last sound of the name in sand. For example, Ankylosaurus would be: A and S.
If the student didn't know which dinosaur it was, they could find the dinosaur fact card that matched their dinosaur toy, and then ask a parent or teacher to read the card to them.
At this centre, students met with Mrs. Jackson and worked on dinosaur spin sounds. The students spun a paper clip and had to say the sound of whichever letter it landed on, and then colour the corresponding dinosaur chart.
The sounds we practiced today were:
v - (sound is /v/ like driving a car)
x - (sound is /ks/ like taking an x-ray)
oo - (two sounds!! We have /oo/ and /o/ like in the words "moon" and "book")
y - (sound is /y/ like "ya" and we pretend to each yogurt)
