Centre Time

Today we had fun at centre time! We had the following centres available today:

- playdoh centre

- kitchen centre

- yoga centre

- sand table centre

- construction centre

- writing centre

iPad Centre

We opened another new centre today: 

The iPad Centre.

We had a little discussion about digital literacy. This basically means that we need to be smart and thinking when using technology or tablets. We discussed (as a class) the amount of time that should be spent on a tablet during a day at Kindergarten. The students came up with 5 minutes. Luckily, I have timers for 5 minutes. 

We discussed that if you spend too much time on a tablet you might get a headache or your eyes might get sore. This isn't good for a healthy body. 

Now when students go the iPad centre, they flip the 5 minute timer and choose a literacy game to play. When the time is up, they switch centres to give their eyes a break. 

November Centre Time

Centre time today was a blast! We had the sand trays out for the Kinders to spell letters in. They love spelling in sand!! 

We also have two new centres that are big hits:

1. Construction Centre

2. Bean Bag Toss Centre

At the Construction Centre, the students get to dress up like construction workers and build or sand wood at the wood-working table. 

At the Bean Bag Toss Centre the students get to quietly take their bean bags and baskets into the hallway and toss their bean bags into the buckets! We have a "one chance" rule. This means that they have one chance to be quiet. They are the judges of themselves. So if they notice they are being noisy, they must give themselves one chance. If they are being noisy again, they will go switch centres. Students are responsible for their own behaviour at this centre!!
