Farm Animal Trivia

We just finished our farm unit! The Kinders did an inquiry farm animal project where they did the following:
1. They chose an animal (horse, pig, cow or sheep).
2. They said everything they knew about that animal before learning about it.
3. Then they chose 1 thing they didn't know about this animal or a question they want to know the answer to.
4. Then some parent volunteers and myself found the answers in books, marked the page number, and had that student figure out the answer by looking at a picture or watching a video.

Then, the students made flaps to hide their answers and decorated their animal. These were posted in the hallway so other kids and parents could learn about farm animals.

Take a look at some of the trivia. See if you know the answer to the questions!

Meet Jingles

Meet Jingles!

He is our Christmas Elf on a Shelf. For those who haven't heard what an Elf on the Shelf is, it's an elf who watches us throughout December to make sure we are being good. During the night when everybody is sleeping, he reports back to Santa in the North Pole. When he flies back, he sometimes causes mischief or will write little notes for us to see in the morning.

There is ONE rule we have to follow. We cannot touch our elf, otherwise he will lose his magic and will not be able to fly back to the North Pole.

Take a look at what Jingles did last night in our classroom. This is the note he wrote:

This is the mess he made!

In our classroom, we have a scrapbook for the morning class and a scrapbook for the afternoon class. Each student made a scrapbook page with photos and their name. They look amazing, but Jingles wanted to be a part of our scrapbook!

Look at all the sparkles!!!!

Special Walk

Today we did something very special...

We took a special walk to mail our letters to Santa!
Yesterday we wrote letters with our big buddies, and today we went to mail our letters.

Postcards for Peace Response

You might remember the post from October about our Postcards for Peace. If you don't remember, click here to see that post.

Yesterday we received a response from our soldiers. We mailed our postcards to Baghdad, Iraq.

This is the response we received:

Hello Mrs. Jackson,

We are a small team of Canadian Armed Forces deployed in the Middle East. We just received your students post cards and letter and would like to express our deepest thanks for brightening our day. Unfortunately we'll miss Christmas at home again this year so it's always nice to get little things from back home. Please extend our thanks to your students and faculty for taking the time to make these for us.

We were very excited to receive a letter. The Armed Forces members also sent us a photo of their team!! If you are in our classroom, take a look at the front of our room at our map. We posted their photo near our map so we can see where the soldiers currently are and remember to pray for them.

There were 9 men in the photo they sent us.
Please keep these men in your prayers.
