Today we made Resurrection Buns.
We started our lesson by watching the video below:
Then, we talked about the Easter Story and what Jesus did for us. Jesus died for us so we can go to heaven.
We talked about how in Jesus’ time and when somebody died, people would put spices or ointments on their body and wrap their dead body in a cloth. This was to finalize the embalming process.
Next, we followed these steps to make our Resurrection Buns:
a. Dip the marshmallow in the butter using a toothpick.
Explain that this is Jesus’ body and we are putting an ointment on it.

b. Dip the marshmallow in the spices (sugar, cinnamon and brown sugar).
Explain that we are now putting Jesus’ body in the spices.

c. Now wrap the crescent roll around the marshmallow and explain that this is Jesus’ body being wrapped in cloth.
d. We talked about what to do with the body now that we have Jesus' body prepared for burial.
What do we do with Jesus’ body now? (Put it in the tomb! The oven).

We made Resurrection Buns with marshmallows inside. After we cooked them, we opened up our buns and found the marshmallow was nowhere to be seen! This is what happened with Jesus when he died and was in the tomb for 3 days. The women went to check on Jesus' body and noticed that his body was gone and up in heaven!
Take a look at our ingredients we used:
